Last time out

City put five past Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, taking us three victories away from a fourth Premier League title in five seasons.

Raheem Sterling scored twice at the Etihad Stadium as City blew out the cobwebs from Champions League heartbreak earlier in the week.

The England man struck first with a diving header from close range to put City ahead and then with a rifled shot into the top corner to complete the victory.

In between those strikes were goals for Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Phil Foden.

Wolves will be buoyed by their late comeback against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. 2-0 down with 11 minutes to go, Trincao put Bruno Lage’s side back in the match before a 97th equalizer from Conor Coady snatched a point.

FORM GUIDE

City are in imperious form in the league as the end of the season approaches. Since the drawn Premier League classic with Liverpool last month, City have taken all 12 points on offer.

Pep Guardiola’s team have defeated Brighton, Watford, Leeds & Newcastle, scoring 17 and conceding just one in the process.

Wolves sit in eighth place in the Premier League but are winless in their last four. In that time they have suffered defeats to Newcastle, Burnley & Brighton before Saturday’s fightback against Chelsea.

With a game in hand on West Ham above them, our hosts will be looking to finish the season strongly and stake a claim for seventh and the UEFA Europa Conference League spot that comes with it.

last meeting

Raheem Sterling’s 100th Premier League goal saw City to a 1-0 win over Wolves at Etihad Stadium back in December.

A well-organized Wolves side prevented City from playing at our free-flowing best that day but a handball from defender Max Kilman gave Sterling the chance from the penalty spot.

A second major milestone was achieved that day as Ederson reached his 100th clean sheet for City in just 212 appearances.

That gave City a four point lead at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Liverpool, while Chelsea sat an extra point back. Both sides won later that day to return to within touching distance of City.

key stats

  • Wolves lost this exact fixture 3-1 last season – they’ve not lost consecutive home league games against Manchester City since April 1981.
  • City have kept a clean sheet in our last five away Premier League matches, with only three sides ever keeping more than five consecutively in the Premier League.
  • City are unbeaten in our last 16 away Premier League games (W13 D3) – it is our longest ever away unbeaten league run in our history.
